Sports Portrait FAQs
Booking and Availability
What is sports coverage?
Sports coverage is real, in-game photography focused on documenting gameplay as it unfolds. Coverage is structured by time and event length, not by individual photos.
What types of events do you cover?
Coverage is available for:
- Single games
- Doubleheaders
- Full-day tournaments
- Multi-day tournaments
Options are available for individual athletes, small groups and full teams.
How many images will we receive?
Image counts vary based on coverage length, gameplay, and opportunity. Galleries include culled, useable images that best represent the event and athlete(s).
Exact deliverables are outlined in the Sports Coverage Guide.
Do you guarantee a certain number of images per athlete?
No. Playing time, position, and game flow all affect image opportunities. I photograph what happens during play.
If sufficient images cannot be captured due to limited gameplay, this is addressed clearly in the coverage agreement.
Do you deliver all images taken?
No. Only selected, usable images are delivered. Duplicate frames, test shots, and unusable images are removed.
RAW or unedited files are not provided.
What if my athlete doesn't play much?
Playing time is determined by the coach and game circumstances and is outside the photographer's control. While every effort is made to capture strong moments, image counts may vary.
How long does coverage last?
Coverage duration depends on the option selected (per game, per day, or tournament). Coverage continues through the completion of a game once started.
What happens if games are delayed or schedules change?
Weather delays, bracket changes, and game shifts are common in youth sports. Coverage continues as outlined in the booking agreement. Extended downtime or major schedule changes may affect coverage and are addressed in advance.
When will we receive the images?
Turnaround time varies by event size and is outlined during booking. Tournament coverage typically requires a longer delivery window.
What are sports portraits?
Sports portraits are posed and directed sessions designed to highlight an athlete's personality, strength, and style. These are not taken during games.
How are sports portraits different from sports coverage?
Sports portraits are controlled sessions with intentional posing and lighting. Sports coverage documents live gameplay and is structured around events and time.
Where do sports portrait sessions take place?
Portraits can take place on a field, in a gym, or at an agreed-upon location depending on the sport and desired look.
How long is a sports portrait session?
Most sports portrait sessions last 45-60 minutes, depending on session type and number of looks or setups.
How many images will we receive?
Each sports portrait session includes a curated selection of edited images. Image counts and upgrade options are outlined during booking.
Can multiple athletes be included in one session?
Yes. Multiple athletes may be included and additional athlete fees my apply depending on session type.
Can sports portraits be used for recruiting or media?
Yes. Images are suitable for personal use, recruiting profiles, and social media. Commercial or team marketing use should be discussed in advance.
How far in advance should I book sports coverage or portraits?
For portraits, booking 2-4 weeks in advance is recommended. Game day, tournaments and team booking should be scheduled as early as possible due to limited availability.
